Meet the Founder

A woman with long red hair and tattoos, sitting on the floor with crossed legs, smiling, wearing a lavender tank top and black pants, next to a rolled-up green yoga mat in a bright, minimalistic room.

I didn't find yoga in a beautiful studio. I found it in a book.

It was 1996. I was a competitive water skier living in a small town in Wisconsin, and I had just injured my back at a tournament. My physical therapist handed me a printed sheet of poses and stretches, and something about it just clicked. There was no yoga studio anywhere near me, so I did what you do when you want something badly enough — I checked books out of the library. I bought a VHS tape and wore it through completely. Then I bought it again. When DVDs became a thing, I bought that too.

By the time I finally walked into my first in-person yoga class, yoga had already changed my life. I just didn't have a word for it yet.

That was 30 years ago. I haven't stopped since.

What began as injury rehab became a passion, then a calling, then a lifelong path of study, healing, and teaching. Over the past 17 years I've guided hundreds of students through movement, breath, stillness, and transformation. I've studied deeply — yoga therapy, Reiki, Pilates, trauma-informed movement, sound healing, ancestral healing, meditation — and I'm currently completing my doctorate in Metaphysical Psychology. But none of that matters as much as this:

I remember what it felt like to desperately need a place to land.

That's why I built The Axis Studio.

Why Axis

I wanted to create an oasis. A place that feels like a cocoon from the outside world — warm, intimate, and completely yours for however long you're here. A space where the moment you walk in, whatever is happening off your mat simply stops mattering. We are only concerned with how you are today, in this very moment.

I don't believe in rigid class levels or pushing you toward someone else's version of the pose. I believe in meeting you exactly where you are. Every class I teach offers options and modifications because your body is different today than it was yesterday — and that's not a limitation, that's wisdom.

My hope is that every time you leave The Axis Studio, you feel a little more like yourself. A little more grounded. A little more centered.

Like you've found your true axis.
